Here's the thing about dog training: it works best when it's consistent, structured, and — ideally — not squeezed between your 6pm meeting and making dinner. Let me handle the foundational work while your dog thrives in a calm, purpose-built home environment. By the time they come back to you, they'll have real skills under their belt — and transfer sessions ensure you know exactly how to keep the momentum going. Consider it a head start. A really good one.

WHAT IS IT AND WHO IS IT FOR?

Boarding in Leo’s home while earning a degree! Suited for puppies over 10 weeks old, teens, or adult dogs who will benefit from basic foundations and manners. Your dog will be the only guest in my home and get heaps of both regimented and opportunistic training during their stay.

WHAT'S INCLUDED?

Daily targeted training sessions based on your pre-determined goals

Training in real-life situations to proof new behaviors

Predictable routine involving daily enrichment and play opportunities, exercise, companionship and relaxation

Safe & cozy sleeping arrangement in accordance with dog's preferences and maturity level

Regular updates via preferred channels (text, email, phone)

Plentiful daily outdoor time in 1,000sqft fenced backyard, neighborhood leash walks, long-line park excursions, and/or varied deliberate environments to further solidify training

Treats, toys, food puzzles, and one-on-one attention

Up to 2 transfer sessions after homecoming — so you can learn how to maintain and build on everything your dog worked so hard for.

WHAT BEHAVIORS / CUES DO YOU TRAIN?

Board & Train is a powerful jump start — not a finish line. The skills your dog builds will need to be maintained and reinforced in your home environment, and we'll make sure you have everything you need to do exactly that during your transfer sessions. Depending on your goals and the length of your dog's stay, the following may be included in their program:

Basic manners (sit, down, stay, leave it, drop, touch/target)
Skills for reducing leash reactivity on walks
Beginning leash walking skills
Recall (coming when called)

Skills for reducing jumping up to greet
Targeting and relaxing on a bed / place mat
Learning the “rules” for mutually enjoyable fetch and tug games
Comfortably remaining in crate for short periods you can then build upon

HOW DOES IT WORK?

1. You complete a Board & Train Intake Form.

2. If your dog appears to be a candidate for board & train I’ll reach out to schedule a 90 minute Intake Assessment with you and your dog in my home (located in San Francisco's Excelsior District, 94112 zipcode).

3. During your assessment we’ll discuss your dog’s history, explore your training goals, and determine if your dog is a good fit for the program. They will need to readily interact with me in order to make the progress you’ll be counting on during their stay.

4. Once approved you'll pay a 50% deposit and book your preferred Board & Train stay dates.

5. After your dog's stay we'll meet for up to 2 transfer training sessions, where I'll demonstrate what they've learned and make sure you have everything you need to build on their progress.
